An unnamed “Senior Republican” who attended the Republican National Convention spoke with Reuters during the event and confessed to the secret fears they are harboring about a second Trump term, and just how far Donald J. Trump will be willing to go if he secures the White House for another four years in November.
Reuters describes this individual only as a “senior Republican from a southern state,” who told the publication that they’re very worried that Donald Trump will turn out to be a lawless president, filling the United States government with MAGA loyalists and yes-men, with the intent of harnessing the US federal government to go on vendettas of retribution and revenge against his political and personal enemies — the very same fears that those of us on the Left have been screaming about for years now.
“That effort will be horrendous,” the unnamed Republican lawmaker told the outlet.

Surprisingly, another notable Republican name went on the record with Reuters to openly express their fears and concerns about what a second Trump term would mean for this already struggling nation.
Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson went on the record and expressed similar sentiments to his anonymous fellow Republican, expressing his fear that as soon as Donald Trump holds power once again, he will leverage the United States Department of Justice to exact revenge and retribution against all of his sworn enemies.
“Clearly, a President Trump would have a close hand at directing the activities of the Justice Department,” Hutchinson said.
However, at the end of the day, the RNC was mostly the echo chamber we fully expected it to be, as the majority of attendees and high-level GOP figures brushed off concerns about Donald Trump’s very real potential to abuse his power and instead shifted their focus to this weekend’s horrific assassination attempt against the ex-president, horrifyingly citing Trump’s survival as further proof that God himself divinely chose Donald J. Trump.
Louisiana delegate Ed Tarpley told Reuters, “I believe that President Trump is a transformational figure, a man of destiny who God providentially saved from death on Saturday. He’s been given a special mission in our country. God’s providential hand has elevated Donald Trump to a different status.”
Colorado delegate Bill Dowd was slightly less cult-like, but equally as flippant about the very real risks that a Trump presidency poses to this country, stating simply, “You need a strong leader at the top.”
