Sunday, just before 2 a.m., a gunman tore through a bar in Austin, leaving several dead and many injured. The attack at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden left 14 people wounded. Three were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the shooter, Ndiaga Diagne, 53, was shot dead by police.

Feds believe the attack was revenge for recent US-Israeli air strikes on Iran. Diagne, a Senegalese immigrant and naturalized US citizen, openly supported the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and posted hate-filled messages online.

“If Israel tries to do to Iran what it is doing to Gaza and Lebanon it will mean the end of Israel,” he wrote in October 2024. “[Benjamin] Netanyahu knows why he’s hiding in a bunker.”

According to The Daily Mail, his social media history shows a steady stream of violent rhetoric. Last April, he wrote: “The Islamic revolution is eternal and here to stay until the end of time. You Zionist and islamophobes can be angry all you want but you can’t do a damn thing about it, no matter what.”

Diagne was openly hostile toward the US too. His 2025 posts labeled President Donald Trump a “shameless clown” and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “EVIL.”

He even targeted Ivanka Trump for praising her father’s peace efforts. “They think they can turn GAZA into a real estate development. They are mistaken. The atrocities of the settlers occupying Palestine will come to an end just like apartheid South Africa.”

The gunman carried a Quran and wore a “Property of Allah” hoodie. Reports say he had an Iranian flag t-shirt underneath. Authorities say he stood outside the bar, firing into the crowd with both a handgun and a rifle.

Social media also shows his hateful posts against Christians and conservative figures. He called Christians “fake imposters” and directed shocking insults at Jewish Republicans, including US Representative Randy Fine and MAGA podcaster Laura Loomer.

When Loomer criticized Sharia law, Diagne replied: “Free ride is coming to an end, you and your Israel acolytes fake jews know it, so melt down all you want you ugly bh.” Another message read: “Shut the fk up you Israel first we, move to Israel you fg bh.”

Valentina Gomez, a Republican running for Congress in Texas, also became a target of his attacks. “Trying so hard to assimilate. You ain’t one of them wet back b***h,” he wrote, adding: “Just post your address tough girl.”

The attack came just hours after US strikes on Iran targeted its top leaders. Authorities quickly swarmed a house in Pflugerville, north of Austin, linked to Diagne. Neighbors described him as a quiet renter who kept to himself.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis called the attack “a tragic, tragic incident” and praised officers for confronting a heavily armed man.

Diagne’s life in the US began in 2000 on a tourist visa. He became a permanent resident after marrying and later naturalized in 2013, despite past arrests. He later moved to San Antonio and divorced in 2022.
