A deadly shooting shook the Dallas ICE field office on Wednesday morning. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told ABC News the shooter fired from an elevated position, hitting the facility’s sally port area from “a couple of hundred yards” away.
The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Dallas police said the shooter fired from a nearby building. One person was killed at the scene, and two others were wounded and taken to the hospital.
“While we don’t know the motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said. “Please pray for the victims and their families.”
Lyons said three people were “down,” including the suspected shooter. Officials are still confirming the condition of the injured.

Dallas police posted on X that the shooter targeted a government building from an adjacent structure.
This attack is the latest in a series of incidents at ICE offices across the country. Last month, shots were fired at an ICE facility in San Antonio, Texas, in what officials described as a “targeted attack” on federal employees. No one was hurt. ICE said political rhetoric and misinformation about detention policies under the Trump administration fueled the attack.
On July 4, another shooting occurred at an ICE office in Alvarado, Texas. A protest escalated, and an officer was shot in the neck but survived.
The Dallas ICE office has also faced protests this summer. In August, there was a bomb threat at the facility, which led to an arrest, a Justice Department official told CBS News.
Authorities still do not know the shooter’s motive. It’s unclear whether the attack targeted specific individuals or the facility in general.
The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement is working to confirm details about the victims and the shooter. The scene remains under close watch as authorities gather evidence.
