Speaking aboard Air Force One, Donald Trump dodged a simple Valentine’s Day question. A reporter asked whether he did anything special for Melania or bought her flowers on February 14.
“I better not tell you that, goodbye everybody,” Trump replied, sheepishly laughing. “That’s the toughest question.”

Trump then started talking about Melania’s work and her documentary. “I’m proud of the fact that her movie is so successful. It’s a tremendous hit, and she does a good job,” he said, focusing on her work instead of the Valentine’s Day question.
He added, “She does some very consequential work. I think you’re going to see in the end that she’s going to go down as one of the truly great first ladies when you see what she’s doing with Russia, Ukraine, and so many of the other things she’s doing. She’s done a good job. She works very hard.”
Melania, 55, wore sunglasses at night while returning to Washington, D.C. Trump had joked on the plane that there was a “movie star” on board. Her unusual look and Trump’s joke made the moment feel unusual and widely noticed by reporters.
Her documentary, Melania, follows the first lady during the 20 days leading up to Trump’s inauguration last January. The film’s theater audience dropped 62% in its third week compared to the previous week.
So far, the documentary has made over $15.4 million. Amazon reportedly spent $75 million producing and promoting it. Critics say the box office results are disappointing, but Trump and supporters argue it shows Melania’s continued influence.
Amazon MGM Studios distribution chief Kevin Wilson said, “Together, theatrical and streaming represent two distinct value-creating moments that amplify the film’s overall impact.” Streaming on Amazon Prime Video is expected to help the film reach more people and recover some theater losses.
Reporters then asked about Maryland Governor Wes Moore and the National Governors Association event at the White House. Trump previously said Moore, the only Black governor in the U.S., would not be invited, along with Democratic Governor Jared Polis of Colorado.
