A rare quiet Trump

Being the tallest Trump by several inches, Barron has apparently decided to stand above the family drama entirely and sell yerba mate in Palm Beach.

The 20-year-old is listed as one of five directors of Sollos Yerba Mate Inc., a beverage company based roughly a mile from Mar-a-Lago. The company has secured $1 million in funding and plans to launch its first product in May 2026, a pineapple coconut flavor marketed with a surfboard aesthetic. The Trump connection, subtle or not, does most of the introduction.

That approach carries over into the product itself.

Sollos told Newsweek: “In the foreseeable future Sollos will only have one recipe. We didn’t set out to make a flavor lineup; we set out to make the perfect drink. Most brands launch with five flavors, hoping you’ll like one of them. We spent all of our time, energy, and resources obsessing over a single recipe until it was flawless.”

The name has a poetic backstory that the company is clearly proud of. Sollos said on LinkedIn: “‘SOL,’ meaning sun in Spanish, represents the sun rising and the beginning of the day. ‘LOS,’ which is ‘Sol’ spelled backwards, represents the sun setting and the end of the day. Together, SOLLOS captures the full cycle of the sun.”

Barron is currently a sophomore at New York University’s Stern School of Business, having transferred to the Washington D.C. campus last fall after his freshman year in Manhattan.

Two of his co-founders, Spencer Bernstein and Stephen Hall, have announced they are taking leaves from college to focus on the company full time. Barron has not made the same announcement, which suggests either exceptional time management or a very understanding professor.

The company’s address adds another familiar layer. The registered address belongs to a $16 million property near Mar-a-Lago owned by Jay Weitzman, a longtime Trump associate who has donated to the president and received federal contracts through his parking business since 2005.

Weitzman told Newsweek he has no investment in Sollos, and that the company uses his address because his grandson Bernstein lives with him. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing. It is simply a very on-brand detail for a Trump-adjacent startup.

Yerba mate itself is a South American herbal tea with nearly twice the caffeine of matcha, traditionally consumed from a shared gourd across Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. It has been gaining ground in the U.S. as a coffee alternative, putting Barron in a genuinely competitive and growing market.

The Trump family has ventured into beverages before. Trump Vodka, Trump Wine, Trump Ice water. The track record is mixed, to put it very generously.
