Early on in the U.S. operation in Iran earlier this month, a girls’ school in Iran was struck, leading to the deaths of 175 girls. It was widely reported that the school had been struck while U.S. or Israeli forces were attacking a nearby Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) facility, although a handful of dubious social media posts indicated that the school had been struck by a misfired Iranian missile.
More recently, more solid reporting, including from Bellingcat and the New York Times, has seemingly determined that a U.S. Tomahawk missile struck the school. President Trump and allied politicians, meanwhile, have continued to insist that Iran was to blame for the deaths.
Trump on Tehran School Bombing: “Whatever the Report Shows, I’m Willing to Live With It”

On Monday, a reporter, the New York Times’ Shawn McCreesh, asked Trump about this.
“You just suggested that Iran somehow got its hands on a Tomahawk and bombed its own elementary school on the first day of the war,” a reporter asked Trump. “You’re the only person in your government saying this… Why are you the only person saying this?”
Trump answered that “I just don’t know enough about it,” while acknowledging that it’s under investigation. “Tomahawks are used by others, as you know,” he added. “Whatever the report shows, I’m willing to live with that report.”
McCreesh was widely praised for this question.

This is a very direct and well phrased question. States the position of the person being questioned in plain English and asks them to explain why others don’t apparently share that view. https://t.co/wFpvltO61y

Trump called out for lying about mass murdering little girls to his face.
“I just don’t know enough about it,” that’s why I lied and claimed Iran bombed their own school, he replied. https://t.co/gpTBs8gOor

Even Ann Coulter had nice things to say:
This is the strike that killed 160 children at the Shajarah Tayyebeh elementary school for a war that does not make one American safer. https://t.co/s8oRJwMrt4
