Bruise Comparison Goes Viral: Trump’s Hand Today vs. Queen Elizabeth’s Just Before She Passed

Looks very worrying

Trump is the oldest person to ever sit in the Oval Office, and questions about his health have followed him since the 2024 campaign. Many voters worried about his memory and energy, and some psychiatrists even said he might be showing signs of dementia. Now a new photo of him with a dark bruise on the back of his right hand has added to the concern.

The picture reminded many of Queen Elizabeth II. Just two days before she passed in 2022, she was seen with a purple hand. Doctors later explained that her skin had become thin and fragile with age, making her more likely to bruise. NBC’s Dr. John Torres explained it in plain words: “As we age, our skin and the connective tissues underneath become more fragile so even a minor bump can cause this type of bruising.”

This condition is known as solar purpura. Studies show that about 10% of older people have it, and it usually shows up on the hands and arms. Doctors also note that it can happen after IV treatments or blood tests. NBC’s Dr. Natalie Azar explained, “It’s common to see it on the back of the hand in someone older who’s had an IV needle placed.” That single comment fueled endless theories online.

Some observers believe Trump may be receiving IV therapy. A medical expert with a doctorate even said the bruise looks like it came from an IV diuretic. That drug is used to treat congestive heart failure, a condition where the heart is too weak to pump blood properly. The illness often causes swollen ankles and legs, something reporters had already spotted on Trump earlier this summer.

When asked about it in July, the White House pushed back. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump has “chronic venous insufficiency,” which she called a harmless condition in older people. She also argued the bruises could come from “frequent handshaking and aspirin use.”

Still, the questions remain. People remember what happened to Joe Biden. Only slightly younger than Trump, Biden was forced to drop out of the race last year after health and age concerns became overwhelming. If Biden was “too old,” critics ask, how long before Trump faces the same judgment?

Political analyst Keith Edwards made the comparison crystal clear. He posted Trump’s hand next to the Queen’s hand before her death with the caption: “The queen two days before she died // Trump today.”

The post went viral and now lingers in the public mind.
