Bush Blasted Over Trump-Harris Stance: ‘When Your Country Calls, You Can’t Just Send It To Voicemail’

This speaks volumes.

Calls are mounting for former President George W. Bush to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential race. His former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, Liz Cheney who formerly represented Wyoming, and according to the Harris campaign, at least 200 other Republicans have jumped ship to support her.

But Bush hasn’t endorsed anyone, and folks are finding this frustrating, according to NJ.com.

Appellate attorney Chris Truax, who served as the Southern California chair for John McCain’s 2008 primary campaign in 2008, can be counted as one of those calling on Bush to man up. In an opinion piece for The Hill, he wrote that there was “a lot of speculation” that Bush would indeed endorse Harris after his former VP did so earlier this month.

“That would have a real impact on the race. As a former Republican president, his endorsement would weigh heavily with old-school Reagan Republicans'” Truax wrote. “And despite Trump’s takeover of the party apparatus, there are still a lot of these Republicans around. Nikki Haley got hundreds of thousands of votes in swing states like Pennsylvania, Arizona and Georgia even after she dropped out of the race. That’s more than enough to deliver those states to Harris and stop Trump from regaining the presidency.”

It wasn’t lost on him that Bush is “apparently above such petty concerns,” and he highlighted recent reports that say Bush isn’t endorsing anyone. According to multiple outlets, Bush’s office released a statement saying that “President Bush retired from presidential politics years ago.” Truax isn’t particularly happy about this situation.

“But it doesn’t work that way. When your country calls, you can’t just roll it over to voicemail because you don’t want to deal with it, especially when you are an elder statesman like an ex-president. Patriotism is for life,” Truax wrote, observing that former President Jimmy Carter said is doing his best to stay alive long enough to cast his vote for Harris.

Cheney isn’t the only former Bush administration official to endorse Harris. Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said last week that he’s also voting for Harris.

One of Trump’s most ardent critics, conservative Bill Kristol is also calling on Bush to denounce the ex-president, citing the ridiculous claims made by the Trump-Vance campaign about Haitian migrants eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio. No evidence has been presented to support this claim.

“By the way, shouldn’t Springfield, Ohio, be the final straw for George W. Bush, who refused to demonize immigrants? It’s time for the ex-president to denounce Trump and endorse Harris,” Kristol wrote, obviously frustrated at the situation.

And Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) just revealed to the world on Sunday what a rotten b@stard he is, admitting he made up the story about Haitian migrants during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union.  He’s facing calls to resign because his lies have stirred up racist rhetoric that is now being directed at Haitians, having spurred marches by the white supremacist group the Proud Boys. There have also been bomb and shooting threats, forcing schools to close.

“If I have to create stories so that the American media actually has to pay attention to the suffering of American people, then that’s what I’m going to do,” Vance said during his appearance.

Targeting innocent people and creating lies that cause real harm is disgusting. Vance is showing his true colors and he should resign and drop out of the race. And if Americans are suffering, it has little to do with immigrants and more to do with his prospective boss, who’s a monster.

Bush is a weakling and a coward for not supporting Harris. I know he’s not the brightest bulb in the socket but he knows what’s going on here. You can’t tell me he doesn’t. He needs to endorse Harris and he needs to do it now. To remain idle as these atrocities against innocent people continue is to be complicit with those who are furthering this lie.

I said what I said.
