Donald Trump’s racism continues to escalate, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to let up any time soon. The latest victim of Trump’s rabid discrimination is beloved chef José Andrés. In one of his all-too-common conniption fits, Trump claimed he had “fired” the noted humanitarian from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition right after being sworn in for his second term (much to our sorrow).
Andrés served as the co-chair of this advisory committee for two years after being appointed to the position on March 23, 2022, ABC News reports.
Trump has the cowardly habit of “firing” people on social media. And believe me, this is cowardly. He doesn’t have to face anyone this way. He did this with his former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, former NSA advisor Michael Flynn (probably the only good thing Trump did as president), Flynn’s successor John Bolton, and now, a batch of independent inspectors general in a series of emails. Which are, of course, as cold and impersonal as doing this in person.
Because that’s the Donald Trump way.
I’ll add that Flynn was in the “forced to resign” category, with Trump explaining:

“I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!” he tweeted.

So it comes as no surprise that Trump doesn’t have the cojones to fire Chef Andres in person.
Instead, he posted what he called an “Official Notice of Dismissal” on social media Tuesday morning, saying that his office would be “identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again.”
Read: “We’re canning people who won’t bow to our demands.”
“Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more, coming soon: Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council — YOU’RE FIRED!” Trump wrote.

But Andrés set the record straight, responding in his social media post Tuesday morning that he had submitted his resignation earlier in the month, when his two-year term concluded.
“I submitted my resignation last week…my 2-year term was already up 🤷♂️😅,” the James Beard Award winner posted on X.
“I was honored to serve as co-chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. My fellow council members – unpaid volunteers like me – were hardworking, talented people who inspired me every day. I’m proud of what we accomplished on behalf of the American people…like a historic partnership between the White House and every major sports league to increase access to sports and health programs for kids.”
Andrés wrapped things up, writing that he hopes Trump “exercises his presidential authority so the Council can continue to advocate for fitness and good health for all Americans.”
“These are bipartisan issues…nonpartisan issues,” he explained. “May God give you the wisdom, Mr. President, to put politics and name calling aside…and instead lift up the everyday people working to bring America together. Let’s build longer tables….”

Well, Andrés may be hopeful, and unlike Trump, he is undoubtedly a good man, but anyone who knows this president knows he is a malevolent force. It’s NOT a force for good.
The good chef, who also founded the World Central Kitchen, was recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom (just three weeks ago), primarily due to his work providing aid to “communities affected by natural disasters and conflict around the world,” the White House announced at the time.
Here, perhaps, is the starkest difference between Chef Andrés and Donald Trump: When he was presented with the highest honor a civilian can receive in the East Room of the White House, he pointed upward. In his way, he was honoring the lives of his WCK colleagues and aid workers who were killed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza last year.
Has Donald Trump ever done something like this? No. Of course, he hasn’t. A man who can treat immigrants the way he has in the U.S. has no respect for anyone or anything except himself. Wait. There is one thing he has respect for: Money. He’s barely a billionaire but hangs like a dingleberry on Elon Musk’s backside.
You heard me.
