As he has mentioned many times, Donald Trump would like to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Such an honor, as has so far eluded him, has been a frequent gripe for the president throughout his first year back in office.

On Friday, when Trump appeared for the World Cup draw ahead of next year’s international soccer tournament that the U.S. will host along with Canada and Mexico, soccer’s world governing body, FIFA, saw it fit to create and present a new peace prize to Trump.

“Trump, who had openly campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize, had been heavily expected to receive the newly created FIFA prize. FIFA president Gianni Infantino, a close ally of Trump, has said he thought Trump should have won the Nobel for his efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza,” the Associated Press reported Friday.

The soccer organization had announced a few weeks earlier that it would present the prize, but not who would receive it. The presentation took place at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

FIFA, it should be noted, has an extensive history of corruption scandals that rivals Trump’s own.

As noted on Friday, when CNN broadcast the presentation, audible laughter could be heard from someone on the set, shortly after the moment Trump received the “prize.”

Per Mediaite, “CNN microphones caught someone busting out laughing as anchor Dana Bash cut into a ceremony in which President Donald Trump was awarded a ‘Peace Prize’ that was created just for him.”

“What just happened was that the President of FIFA gave the President of the United States the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize,” Bash said on CNN. “Now it was only created a few weeks ago after President Trump didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize. And here’s the way FIFA explains what this prize is. This is in their official explanation: ‘In an increasingly unsettled and divided… world, it’s fundamental to recognize the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in the spirit of Peace.”
