Earlier this week, the White House communications director, Steven Cheung, claimed on X that CNN had neglected to book the White House deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, for a segment.

“Stephen Miller has graciously made himself available to appear on any CNN show these last few days to discuss a wide range of topics and to push back on fake news. Yet, CNN is so afraid they declined to have him on, probably because they know he’d run circles around any of their hosts,” Cheung wrote.

“CNN is actively engaging in partisan politics and acting as the propaganda arm of the Democrat party,” Cheung added.

CNN is, of course, free to book or not book whoever they wish.

On Thursday, Miller himself took it further, claiming that he had offered to appear on CNN, but that “and you know what CNN’s response was? ‘We will not take him, period, for any show on any topic.'”

CNN, however, has denied Miller’s claim, per The Daily Beast.

“As a news organization, we make editorial decisions about the stories we cover and when, and that depends on the news priorities of the day,” a CNN spokesperson told the New York Post. “We look forward to having Stephen on again in the future as the news warrants.”

The spat comes as the future of CNN is very much in question.

Netflix recently agreed to purchase Warner Brothers Discovery, although that purchase would not include CNN, which is part of the side of the company that is not being sold. Paramount, now controlled by the Trump-allied Ellison family, is seeking to buy the entire company, CNN included, and the president has taken an interest in the process.
Per the Beast, Trump told reporters this week that he wants to see CNN sold as part of any purchase.
“I think the people that have run CNN for the last long period of time are a disgrace. I think it’s imperative that CNN be sold,” Trump said at the White House Wednesday. “I don’t think they should be entrusted with running CNN any longer,” Trump added. “So I think any deal should—it should be guaranteed and certain that CNN is part of it or sold separately.”
