Donald Trump’s weekend freakout, in which he was found to have texted a letter to the president of Norway to complain about his lack of a Nobel Peace Prize — and to tie that to his desire to take over Greenland- has led to more denunciations from the right than most Trump controversies have.
Erick Erickson, the conservative pundit, has gone back and forth on Trump over the years. He went from a never-Trumper to backing Trump in 2020, to not going along with Trump’s election denial in 2020, to endorsing him again in 2024. Erickson, though, has been occasionally critical of the president during his second term.
This week, Erickson reacted negatively to the Norway letter.
“When the leader of allied country gets to ‘screw it, I’m leaking my text messages with Trump,’ we’ve reached the point of the American President needing an intervention, but instead we will get more performative leg humping,” Erickson said on X this week.

However, Erickson still declared, on that day, that he continues to support Trump:
Unhinged left-wing protestors disrupting peaceful church services is one of the many reasons why I continue to support Donald Trump. pic.twitter.com/yCoMzsYum5

Another pundit, on the other hand, noted that Trump’s action might cause a left-wing party to win the next elections, similarly to what happened last year in Canada:
The largest Danish left-wing party looked to be losing the upcoming election, but have now had a large bump due to Trump’s Greenland posturing.
He had the same effect on the Canadian election.
And the election in Australia.
Quite possibly there is no person who has had as…
