Update: USA Today reports that President Biden did not glance at his watch during the dignified transfer ceremony. “The full video of the dignified transfer ceremony shows Biden honored each of the fallen U.S. service members,” the outlet reports. “He appeared to check his watch after the ceremony ended.” We apologize for the error.
Update: USA Today walked back their initial face-check, writing, “Corrections & Clarifications: This story was updated Sept. 2 to note that Biden checked his watch multiple times at the dignified transfer event, including during the ceremony itself. The rating on this claim has been changed from partly false to missing context.
Republicans are desperate to attack President Joe Biden; even while we’re close to reaching the end of one of the largest airlift rescue operations in his history after Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. There are two fake outrages from conservatives that are ridiculous, at best. On Saturday, CNN’s Daniel Dale fact-checked one that went viral on Twitter. The claim was that “no one from the Biden White House attended” the solemn ceremony when American soldiers’ remains were returned. Even Fox News host Laura Ingraham weighed in to say, “The Biden administration doesn’t care about our troops” even though it’s literally fake news since President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, along with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and other administration officials attended the dignified transfer at Dover on Sunday morning.
Well, now it’s Monday, and conservatives found something else to be outraged over: President Biden reportedly glanced at this watch during the transfer at Dover. Imagine that. Perhaps they’re outraged that President Biden is doing his job, and as president, he needs to multitask while we’re going through multiple crises.
The outrage:
Looks like he was being inconvenienced by having to show some respect for these American Heros. https://t.co/omAs3CIqjj

I had very little faith in @POTUS from the beginning, and somehow he’s even fallen below that bar. How can you sink lower than the expectations of the people that know you are a corrupt treasonous piece of subhuman filth Joe? https://t.co/UPXneMrjoC

Twitter users piled in with a couple of them noting that this is nothing more than “tan suit vibes.”
🙄🙄 This “scandal” really has “tan suit” vibes, guys. Newsflash: It’s actually possible to feel empathy, grieve, AND glance at your watch. All at the same time!

Really? “Ripped”😂. A 3 second glance in a 60 minute ceremony?
What is wrong with you people 🤦♂️
— Eli_Z12 🇺🇸💪🌊🏴☠️ (@Eli_Z12) August 30, 2021
🤣🤣🤣🤣 really? Who’s ripping him? Name the sources? Since it’s so many. You sure it ain’t @nypost doing the ripping?

To respond to a devastating hurricane. All the Former Guy did was pull out a sharpie and throw paper towel at victims.

Maybe he was getting an important message. He is the President.
— Sally (@_sally16) August 30, 2021
I believe it was the watch of his deceased son, who served valiantly in the military but the post had to go there.
— Lee (@LelandAZ) August 30, 2021
And notice he had his hand over his heart as he glanced at Beau’s watch.
— Lee (@LelandAZ) August 30, 2021
That’s because he’s a real president with a real schedule, not mornings filled with ‘Executive Time’ watching Fox & Friends.
— DC (@DavidFCarty) August 30, 2021
Yes. He had to respond to a catastrophic hurricane in Louisiana and check on the paper towel supply so he could throw them at devastated and suffering hurricane victims. Oh, wait.

Man, you guys are just grasping for anything you can to nitpick as much as possible. This has got nothing but ‘tan suit’ vibes all over it. Find something legitimate to complain about.

Trump supporters should have sat this one out; after all, the twice-impeached one-term president called Americans who died in war “losers and suckers.” Trump disparaged prisoners of war when he lashed out at Sen. John McCain to say, “I like people who weren’t captured.”
