According to a new report from the Daily Beast Right-wing conspiracy theorist and InfoWars talking head, Alex Jones, will likely soon face a warrant for his arrest after he blatantly defied a court order today that ordered him to sit for a deposition in the Sandy Hook lawsuit — again.

Jones is currently embroiled in a massive lawsuit lodged against him by the families of victims of the 2012 Connecticut Sandy Hook school shooting. As such, he was directly ordered by a judge to sit for a deposition in connection to the suit in Austin, Texas. Today now reportedly marks the second day that the InfoWars host did not show up. According to the Beast, doctors representing Jones have claimed that the Right-wing conspiracy theorist was too sick with an unnamed illness to sit for the ordered deposition. However, Jones was not too sick to go ahead and hos his hours-long conspiracy theory show.

The InfoWars host skipped the first scheduled deposition yesterday, prompting attorneys for the plaintiffs in the lawsuit to request that Connecticut Judge Barbara N. Bellis issue a warrant for Jones’ arrest in an effort to force him to show up and participate in the deposition. Following yesterday’s missed appearance, Bellis ordered that Jones was to show up for the court-ordered deposition today or he would face possible potential action from the court. Given that Jones has very clearly defied the judge’s orders and refused to show up for the second scheduled deposition, it is expected that Bellis will now take the action she threatened yesterday. In fact, the Beast reports that Bellis could do so as soon as tonight.

In yesterday’s order demanding that Jones appear for the rescheduled deposition, Judge Bellis wrote, “Mr. Jones cannot unilaterally decide to continue to engage in his broadcasts, but refuse to participate in a deposition.”

Last year, Bellis had already made the rare decision to rule that Jones had defaulted in the case, meaning he has already lost the case before it’s even had a chance to go to trial, due to the InfoWars host’s refusal to follow legal procedure. The judge is now simply trying to determine how much Jones and InfoWars will be forced to pay to the Sandy Hook families in damages, in connection to his numerous allegations on his show claiming that the tragic, deadly school shooting was faked. Bellis now has the full ability to escalate Jones’ punishment, all the way up to an arrest warrant that could lead to real jail time.

Responding to Jones’ refusal to show for the court-ordered deposition, Christopher Mattei, a lawyer for the Sandy Hook families, told reporters, “This is, in our view, a cowardly display intended to cheat the plaintiffs of their right to put him under oath and ask him questions.”

Attorneys for Alex Jones did not respond to the Daily Beast’s request for comments on the matter.
