Devin Nunes Sends Americans A Christmas And News Year’s Message, Social Media Does Not Respond Kindly

He just had to make Christmas political.

Rep. Devin Nunes, who is the Intelligence Committee Ranking Member and a partisan Republican that has been one of Donald Trump’s staunchest defenders, just had to make his Christmas greeting political. Instead of posting just a “Merry Christmas” to his followers, he used the holiday for political purposes to demean the free press with a call to end “fake news.”  Nunes could have tweeted about baby Jesus or even a call for unity during the holidays, but that’s beyond him, apparently.

“I want you to know, this is a fake fire,” Nunes said while standing in front of a fireplace, adding, “a lot like the fake news you see. Let’s hope this year, no more fake news, no more fake fires. Let’s hope for a better 2020.”

That was one of the dumbest partisan holiday rants ever, and one has to wonder how we can hope for a “better 2020” when we haven’t had a 2020 year before, but OK!

Twitter users piled in.

Trump supporters often talk of the “hate” we have for the “president,” but all he and his colleagues exude is hatred toward others while becoming more divisive each day. Nunes has some things to answer for, and it’s not going to go away by calling every criticism of the “president” fake news. Republicans need to come up with new material because that “fake news” shit is getting old. It’s about as old as his “president’s” time in office, which feels like decades.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
