There is certainly no love lost between comedian Kathy Griffin and scandal-ridden former President and Republican 2024 frontrunner Donald Trump these days. In fact, I think it’s pretty safe to say that the two hate each others’ guts about as much as one can hate another human being.
However, there was once a time, a decade or two ago, that Griffin and Trump were perhaps not best friends, but certainly civil and friendly with each other.
Apparently, it was around this time that Griffin came to realize that Trump really stinks… Literally.
The topic of Donald Trump’s alleged odor has gone viral more times than I can count, at this point. But the most recent uptick in morbid interest surrounding Donnie’s smell came as a result of something Kathy Griffin said in a podcast-style discussion with the former president’s own niece, Mary Trump, exclusive to her The Good In Us newsletter subscribers.

Speaking with Mary, Griffin said, “The Donald has a distinct smell that doesn’t really get enough press, it’s like body odor with kind of like a scented makeup products. But you can smell the hair products even outdoors,” before adding, “Don’t make that face! I’m just being honest. I know,” in response to Mary’s grossed out expression.
“Well, I don’t know,” Donald’s niece responded. “Maybe somebody needs to make a candle that said yeah, because that’ll fly off the shelves right Christmas right now. Okay.”
But now, it seems we have more than just the story — we’ve got the video of this exact event.
Despite being friendly with “The Donald” at the time, Griffin claims to have first noticed the now-ex-president’s unpleasant smell in a season 10 episode of The Apprentice, where contestants were tasked with arranging a dinner for a golf tournament headlined by Liza Minnelli and Griffin.
In the clip, Griffin comes up on stage, after being announced by Trump, and proceeds to half-hug him and share a cheek kiss with no outward signs of disgust or revulsion.
However, the pair were on good terms at the time and this was, of course, pre-Trump-decapitation-parody.
Now, Griffin claims that this was the exact moment she noticed that Trump stinks, both literally and figuratively.
