“Poor CNN, it’s so pathetic,” President Donald Trump said at a White House roundtable on Wednesday, making it clear that the media were his main target.
He went on to call reporters at CNN and MSNBC “largely dishonest,” adding that speaking with them was “a waste of time even talking to them.”
When a CNN reporter tried to ask a question, Trump quickly cut her off. “This is one of the worst reporters that you’ll ever see,” he said sharply. “I don’t even want to take a question, it’s a waste of time.”
.@POTUS absolutely wrecks CNN (again): “This is CNN speaking, by the way. This is one of the worst reporters that you’ll ever— I don’t even want to take a question.”

Trump continued to attack the networks. “MSNBC is dying and CNN is dying like a dog,” he said. “Did you see their anchors in the evening? Nobody ever heard of them. Where does the people come? I could take anybody off the street in Washington D.C., they’d do a better job.”

Some aides shifted uncomfortably in their seats, but Trump seemed pleased. He smiled briefly, as if enjoying the chaos he had created.
The president also jumped between topics. He gave a confusing answer about habeas corpus, made a strange comment to a content creator in the room, and bragged vaguely about ending a freedom of speech without explaining which one.
Through it all, his attacks on the press dominated the event. The discussion on Antifa and public safety barely registered. He paused often to emphasize his points, leaning into the camera as if addressing a rally crowd.
