President Donald Trump has reacted to the tragic school shooting in Minneapolis. The attack happened Wednesday morning at Annunciation Catholic School during an all-school Mass, just one week after classes began.
Authorities confirmed that two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed when a gunman opened fire inside the church. 17 others were injured, including 14 children. Police said the shooter, a man in his early 20s, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Donald Trump addressed the tragedy on Truth Social. He wrote:
“I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded, and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!”

Founded in 1923, Annunciation Catholic School serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Just days ago, parents had posted photos of smiling children in green uniforms returning for the first day of classes.
The attack has left Minneapolis reeling. Only a day earlier, 1 person was killed and 6 others were wounded in a shooting outside a local high school. Hours later, 2 more people died in separate shootings across the city. Leaders say the community is facing a painful series of tragedies.
Wednesday’s massacre also adds to a grim national trend. According to NBC News, this was the fifth school shooting of 2025. The others took place at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in California on May 2, Florida State University in Tallahassee on April 17, Pasadena Memorial High School in Texas on Feb. 1, and Antioch High School in Tennessee on Jan. 22.
