Early this morning, the former president took to his Truth Social account and self-announced that he would be holding a “General News Conference” at his Palm Beach, FL, golf resort and post-White House home.
Trump’s announcement was very vague and did not include specifics about what sort of topics he would be touching on during the press briefing event.
Shortly after that announcement, Donald’s former press secretary and a former close friend of his wife Melania, Stephanie Grisham, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and warned Americans that this is a clear sign that the ex-president is “panicking” in the midst of Harris’ resounding success.
“Re: Trump’s self-announced press conference today at 2 pm: He’s panicking. I’ve seen this play many times. He thinks his team is failing him & no one can speak better/’save’ his campaign/defend him but him. He hates the coverage Harris is getting & thinks only he can fix it,” Grisham wrote in her post.

Following the rather bizarre press briefing event, one of Donald’s former White House aides spoke out with similar sentiments to Grisham’s.
Anthony Scaramucci, who only served a total of 10 days as the Trump administration communications chief, spoke with CNN on the heels of Trump’s presser and said that the whole ordeal didn’t bode well for the Trump Campaign, for Donald’s advisors, or for Trump’s personal mental health and confidence.
“He spent the whole time talking about fearmongering,” Scaramucci told CNN when asked for his reaction to the event. “He’s talking about fear on the border, he’s talking about fear in the economy, he’s talking about fear of crime. And so it’s a very fear-based approach.”
He went on to add that, in his opinion, there is no possible way that Trump’s strategists could be on board for what we all witnessed this afternoon.
“They’re sitting there cringing. He’s sitting there saying, okay, we’re flailing, so I’m going to show you how it’s done. I’m going to go out to the press, speak unhinged for 40 minutes to an hour, and I’m going to set everybody straight on what we’re doing. And so it’s not working,” the former Trump White House official said. “If I’m a Democratic strategist, please let him go on for another two hours, like Benito Mussolini or Fidel Castro, just let him unwind himself.”
However, Scaramucci said there is one particular key takeaway from this whole thing: “This is a frightened Donald Trump.”
“He’s looking at the poll numbers, and it was a big tell when he does the accordion thing and tells you how great he is doing in the polls. That’s a big tell for him. He’s not doing well in the polls. He knows that,” Scaramucci explains.
“And so that’s another big lie that he’s saying from that podium. So let him keep talking, he’ll dig a bigger hole for himself, and people will remember, well, I don’t really want to go back to what was going on in this country, 2017 to January of 2021.”
