The hunt for the man who killed Charlie Kirk is still underway, and now the FBI has released pictures of a “person of interest.” The photos show a figure in a black hoodie, jeans, sunglasses, and a backpack. Officials say they want the public’s help to identify him.

In a statement, the FBI wrote: “We are asking for the public’s help [in] identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.”

However, investigators have not yet confirmed that the person in the photos is the actual shooter.

The images come as officials try to piece together what happened. The gunman is believed to have climbed onto a campus rooftop, fired one deadly shot at Kirk, then jumped down and ran into a nearby neighborhood. Authorities later recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle, which they believe was the weapon used in the attack.

Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said at a press conference that they have “good video” of the suspect. He also described the shooter as appearing to be “college age.” Mason stressed that every available resource is being poured into the case, adding: “We will catch this individual.”

For now, though, the shooter remains unidentified. Police initially detained two men after the assassination, but both were later released and cleared of involvement. That has left the investigation focused on the new surveillance images, the recovered weapon, and more than a hundred tips sent in by the public.

The FBI says it is working closely with state and local law enforcement in Utah. They’ve also created an online tip portal for anyone who may have seen something, taken photos, or captured video during the shooting. “Our investigation continues and we will continue to release information in interest of transparency,” FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X.

Charlie Kirk, only 31 years old, was one of the most recognizable conservative voices in America. He was the co-founder of Turning Point USA and had built a large following with his fiery speeches and campus debates. His “Prove Me Wrong” events regularly drew massive student crowds, and he had become a strong ally of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
