Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is every bit as fed up with Clarence Thomas’ bullsh*t as we are, and she’s letting the world know it.
Over the weekend, Lightfoot participated in a Pride Parade event, where she took to the stage and proceeded to take aim at the corrupt Supreme Court justice in a profanity and anger-fueled tirade, vowing not to “stand idly by,” following the heinous SCOTUS overturning of the landmark 1973 Roe V. Wade decision, that effectively stripped American women and AFAB humans of their basic human rights to reproductive healthcare.
“So we know what happened in the Supreme Court yesterday. If you read Clarence Thomas’ concurrence, he said —” the Chicago mayor said in her speech before stopping mid-sentence to address someone in the crowd. In video footage of the speech, we were unable to clearly hear what the audience member said that Mayor Lightfoot was responding to, however, it immediately resulted in Lightfoot shouting, “Fuck Clarence Thomas!”
The crowd gathered around the beloved mayor burst into a round of cheers as an emcee at the event repeated Lightfoot’s powerful statement.

“He thinks that we are going to stand idly by while they take our rights, our right to marry, our right to have children, our right to live!” Lightfoot shouted to her audience.

The overturning of Roe V. Wade now leaves the topic of abortion and women’s healthcare up to the states — with more than a dozen of them already installing their trigger laws that were effective immediately, serving to severely restrict or outright abolish abortion right’s in their states.
Back when the Roe opinion draft was first leaked earlier this year Lightfoot, who is gay, tweeted that there needed to be a “call to arms” because the Supreme Court was “coming” for LGBTQA+ citizens and their rights next.
“To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community—the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms,” the Chicago mayor wrote on social media just last month.

While Lightfoot received some backlash over her remarks at the time, she was not wrong, as almost immediately following the SCOTUS Roe ruling, Thomas released a concurring opinion that took aim at previously established Supreme Court decisions pertaining to gay marriage, gay sex, and contraception.
Fuck Clarence Thomas.
