Over the weekend, disgraced former President Donald Trump held his controversial rally in Waco, TX, where he kicked up and doubled down on his terrifyingly violent rhetoric surrounding Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and others who have dared to investigate and attempt to hold him accountable for his crimes — a vendetta he’s been engaged with for weeks now, as he seemingly comes to the realization that his days of skirting accountability for the things he’s done are rapidly coming to an end.
Throughout the past few weeks, we have noted multiple times that Trump’s rhetoric and behavior have felt eerily reminiscent of the rhetoric and behavior we saw in the days and moments leading up to the horrific, deadly January 6th Capitol attack. Trump has once again resorted to his tactic of inciting his base of violent supporters to anger and action on his behalf — the very same tactics he’s now under investigation for by the highest law in the land, the US Department of Justice.
But now, one former member of the now-disbanded January 6th House Select Committee is warning the American people that the behavior and language we are now seeing out of the scandal-ridden former president — more specifically the way Trump acted during his Waco rally over the weekend — is in many ways even worse than what we witnessed in the lead up to January 6th.
Former J6 Committee investigator, California Rep. Zoe Lofgren, made an appearance on CNN with host Jim Acosta on Sunday, the day after Trump’s controversial TX rally, where Acosta aired several clips of the ex-president’s disturbing remarks from the night before, asking Lofgren for her thoughts on what Donald Trump stood on stage and said to his base.

“It’s the same language of incitement that we’ve heard time and again from the former president,” Acosta noted. “We know that late last week, the House Democratic leader, Hakeem Jeffries, was talking about how he was worried that somebody could get killed with all of this rhetoric flying around. Are you worried about that, too?”
“I think it’s a concern,” Lofgren replied. “The rhetoric that he’s using today is not dissimilar to the type of rhetoric he used prior to January 6.”
“In fact, in some ways, it’s more overt and blatant than the events leading up to January 6,” the Democratic House rep. and former J6 investigator added.
Lofgren went on to cite the deeply disturbing Truth Social post that the former president eventually deleted, depicting himself in a side-by-side image holding a baseball bat in a swinging position, juxtaposed beside a photo of DA Alvin Bragg, as well as Donald’s incessant, increasingly violent remarks and apparent threats as the widely expected Manhattan indictment breathes heavy down his neck.
“This is cause for concern,” Lofgren warned. “We know that certainly not all of his followers are inclined to take up arms, but there’s enough of them who are willing to do battle in his behalf that someone could get killed. And people were killed, obviously, on January 6th.”
