Former Prosecutor Says Donald Trump Is Now Facing A New, Very Real Threat Of “Live Witness Testimony” In His Sprawling J6 Criminal Case

Thought things couldn't get worse, Donald?

Just when scandal-plagued and felony-convicted former President Trump undoubtedly thought things couldn’t get much worse in his life, one former US prosecutor is now speaking out to note that a recent ruling against Donald Trump’s legal team by Judge Tanya Chutkan may have just opened up the door for public hearings, featuring a wide variety of live witness testimonies, on the ex-president’s personal role in the infamous Capitol insurrection, in his sprawling, criminal January 6th case.

Former prosecutor Shan Wu penned an expansive column with The Daily Beast, in which he noted that the legal team for the scandal-ridden ex-president is still desperately attempting to suppress evidence in the January 6th case brought against Trump by DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith — and it’s left Judge Chutkan with multiple options when it comes to how she will proceed with this case.

Wu made note of the fact that the highly-Conservative US Supreme Court has attempted to put Obama-appointed Judge Chutkan on the spot to formally nail down what evidence can and cannot be utilized in this case and goes on to explain that this process can take place either through closed-door filings between legal teams, or out in the open in a public hearing with live witness testimonies for the whole world to see.

“A public hearing with witnesses would of course be a great service to the American public because it would allow a fuller display of just what actions Trump is alleged to have done to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power,” Wu writes in his column. “Voters deserve to know this before the election, and but for the actions of the Supreme Court, voters might also have learned whether they would be voting for a twice-convicted felon to be president of the United States.”

The former prosecutor goes on to note, “Decisions based on live witness testimony will give appeals courts and the Supreme Court a far sounder basis upon which to make their eventual decisions,” adding that “Jack Smith is simply trying to get his damn case tried — a case that should have been tried long ago.”

“Any prosecutor wants and should press to get his case done as quickly as possible—evidence can be lost, witnesses can be lost and their memories fade. It serves justice to be speedy. But the blame for this loss of speed is squarely with the conservative majority of the U.S. Supreme Court,” Wu writes.
