Former Watergate Prosecutor Warns Trump And Team Should Brace For MORE Indictments From Jack Smith Based On Damning New Court Filing In Criminal Case

Suffice it to say, scandal-plagued former President Donald Trump has had a rough few weeks after Garland-appointed DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith dropped a thundering 37 felony criminal indictment against him in the infamous Mar-a-Lago stolen document investigation.

Smith, on behalf of the Biden DOJ, has been investigating the former president for his role in inciting the January 6th Capitol insurrection, his attempt to overthrow the 2020 presidential election after his loss to Joe Biden, and the infamous stolen Mar-a-Lago document scandal, in which Donald Trump stole classified government documents at the end of his presidency, relocated the material to his Palm Beach compound, where he hid them, lied about his possession of the materials, and repeatedly refused to comply with government requests and subpoenas for their return.

That investigation came to a fever pitch this week when the disgraced former president was formally arrested and arraigned on those 37 felonies, all related to obstruction and violations of the Espionage Act, in a Miami court.

But, a bombshell new court filing in Smith’s criminal case has the experts believing that the indictments coming out of the DOJ aren’t quite over yet.

Former Watergate prosecutor and first female general counsel of the Army, Jill Wine-Banks, made an appearance on MSNBC’s Ayman, during which she was questioned about the damning new court filing in the criminal case against Donald Trump, in which Special Counsel Jack Smith pointedly mentions “ongoing investigations.”

The MSNBC host asked Wine-Banks, “What do you make of that motion filed by the special counsel Jack Smith, and it’s reference to material regarding quote, ongoing investigations?”

The former Watergate prosecutor didn’t mince her words when she said that Smith’s mention of ongoing investigations makes it far more likely that the US Department of Justice is not done doling out indictments against former President Donald J. Trump.

“Of course, that raises the probability that Jack Smith and his team are going to have additional indictments,” Wine-Banks stated. “Whether that is for the January 6th, whether that is just adding additional people to the Mar-a-Lago documents case, or a third possibility, we don’t know.”

She went on to note that it’s “ironic that there are no defenses, basically, to the case that’s already been brought.”

“And so, there’s always a rule for trial lawyers that if the law is on your side, stress the law. If the facts are on your side, stress the facts. And if neither is on your side, pound the table,” she explained, “And I’m afraid the defense lawyers to the extent that he has any, are going to have to pound the table. Because they don’t have law or facts on their side.”

Suffice it to say, it’s very likely that things are about to get a lot worse still for Donald Trump.
