God forbid he goes grocery shopping with his wife

Should husbands go grocery shopping with their wives? It sounds like a strange question, doesn’t it? Well, Fox News host Jesse Watters thinks it’s an important one. Recently, during a segment on Fox News Live, he sparked a debate that has the internet buzzing. Watters watched a clip of Doug Emhoff, the former Second Gentleman, grocery shopping with his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris. Watters asked, “What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife?”

The internet had thoughts.

Some criticized Fox News for making such a comment, questioning how they could call themselves conservative while promoting outdated views on gender roles.

Husbands joined the fun, too. One man proudly tweeted, “I go grocery shopping with my wife every Saturday.”

Grocery shopping with your partner isn’t exactly date night, but it can be a team effort. You pick the snacks; they grab the veggies. Maybe there’s even a little argument over which brand of coffee to get. That’s marriage, right? For most couples, it’s just part of life. But Watters seemed genuinely confused by the idea. His comment wasn’t just a one-off remark, though—it’s part of a pattern that has people rolling their eyes.

Watters is no stranger to making controversial statements. In 2024, he criticized men who supported Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign. He joked that voting for a woman somehow made a man less masculine. He even said, “I heard the scientists say the other day that when a man votes for a woman, he actually transitions into a woman.”

And who could forget his 2022 confession about deflating his now-wife Emma DiGiovine’s car tires? He told viewers on The Five that he purposely let the air out of her tires so she’d need a ride. “It worked like a charm,” he said. After the backlash, he claimed it was just a joke.

But the jokes don’t always land well, do they?

Relationships today are about teamwork. Whether it’s splitting chores, taking care of the kids, or, yes, grocery shopping, it’s all part of being a supportive partner.

In 2023, Watters defended a controversial Florida education policy that suggested enslaved people “developed skills” during slavery. Many called his comments insensitive and accused him of ignoring the brutal realities of history.

So, what’s the takeaway here? Maybe it’s time to stop overthinking simple things, like whether a husband should go grocery shopping with his wife. It’s 2025—if your partner wants to tag along, grab an extra cart and let them help. Jesse Watters should probably just stay out of other people’s carts.
