Fox News host Larry Kudlow shocked viewers by openly blaming President Donald Trump for damaging the economy. Once one of Trump’s biggest supporters, Kudlow has consistently defended his economic policies. However, this time, he did not hold back in pointing out the serious problems caused by Trump’s decisions.

The economy is struggling. The Dow Jones dropped by 715 points, a 1.7% decline. The S&P 500 also fell by 2%, one of its worst days in two years, while the NASDAQ dropped by 2.7%. Fox Business anchor Liz Claman described it as a “tough way to end the week” before Kudlow started his show. Kudlow then listed the problems: a bad inflation report, tariff confusion, and even the possibility of Republicans raising taxes.
One of the biggest issues is Trump’s decision to increase tariffs. Tariffs are taxes on goods from other countries. This means businesses have to pay more to import materials, which makes their products more expensive. When businesses pay more, they charge customers more, leading to higher prices for things like food, cars, and electronics.
Experts say Trump’s tariffs alone could cost the average American family an extra $1,200 annually. This means people will have less money to spend, slows down the economy even more.
Another major problem is inflation, which occurs when prices for goods and services go up. The latest report shows that inflation rose by 2.8% in February, which is higher than expected. At the same time, consumer spending only grew by 0.4%, meaning people are not spending as much because prices are too high.
When inflation rises too fast, everyday essentials like groceries, rent, and gas become more expensive. Many people struggle to keep up, and Kudlow pointed out that Trump’s policies are making things even harder.
In another surprising move, reports say that Trump is considering raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans. This would significantly change from traditional Republican policies, which usually focus on tax cuts. According to Axios, Trump’s team is considering this idea to help cover tax cuts on tips and other priorities.
Larry Kudlow did not seem happy about this news. He has always supported tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy. Many Republicans also worry that raising taxes could upset Trump’s biggest supporters and divide the party.
Trump’s team is struggling to explain their economic plans. Earlier this month, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appeared on Fox & Friends to defend Trump’s policies. He said they focused on helping “Main Street” instead of Wall Street. He also claimed they were bringing back manufacturing jobs and rebalancing the economy.
However, Bessent avoided answering when co-host Brian Kilmeade asked if Trump’s tariffs would increase inflation. Just a few weeks later, inflation is rising, and the stock market is falling. This shows that Trump’s trade policies are hurting the economy instead of helping it.
The big question now is whether Trump will listen to these warnings or continue pushing policies that could cause the country more financial problems.
