In his ideal world, Donald Trump would simply be praised nonstop on television at all times. When news coverage falls short of that standard, he tends to rage- especially when it comes from Fox News.

While known mostly as a conservative-leaning and pro-Trump news outlet, Fox’s relationship with Trump has had its ups and downs over the years, including a period before the 2024 primaries when the network’s founder, Rupert Murdoch, seemed to be steering his media empire away from Trump.

At other times, individual hosts and guests have given neutral or Trump-skeptical analyses, and Trump tends to notice. That’s what happened on Saturday, when stockbroker and economic analyst Peter Schiff appeared on Fox and Friends Weekend and talked about prices still being high.

Trump immediately took to Truth Social to not only call Schiff wrong, but also to question how he had been booked in the first place.

“Why would Fox and Friends Weekend (of all things?) put on a ‘Stockbroker’ named Peter Schiff, a Trump hating loser who has already proven to be wrong. Either the show made a mistake, or it is heading in a different direction,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“He thinks prices are going up when, in fact, they are coming substantially down. Gasoline hit $1.99 a gallon yesterday, in certain states, and is down BIG since Biden. Other prices are almost all down. Biden caused the AFFORDABILITY CRISIS, I’M FIXING IT, along with everything else! Much of it, like the Border, is already fixed. Check out the “booker” who put this jerk on!”

Schiff went on to respond, by challenging the president to a debate.

“Since Pres. Trump called me a jerk and a loser for claiming that prices are still rising when he insists they’re coming way down, I challenge him, or his designee, to a debate on the U.S. economy and the efficacy of his policies,” he said on X. “If I’m as wrong as he says I am, let him prove it.”
