It’s no real secret that Donald Trump’s ego is extremely fragile if it’s anything at all. He genuinely cannot tolerate the mere idea of being insulted, made fun of, or even not really being liked by anyone. However, a new report from Rolling Stone is shedding new light on just how deep that intolerance runs for the former president, and just how desperately he attempted to use the powers of the presidency, while he still had them, to shield his ego from any bruising pain.
Rolling Stone now confirms that back in 2018, while still in office, Donald Trump heavily pressured his own White House aides to do everything in their power to have comedian and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel shut down, canceled, or forced to stop cracking jokes about him on his show, as the mockery brutally beat and bruised Trump’s ego to the point he couldn’t stand it.
Aides said the then-president was furious by Kimmel’s near-constant mockery against him and pressured those aides to get in contact with Disney, owner of ABC Network which carries Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and share his “fury” with the company’s executives in an effort to force the mockery to stop.
Asawin Suebsaeng and Adam Rawnsley with Rolling Stone report, “The then-president, according to two former Trump administration officials, was so upset by Kimmel’s comedic jabs that he directed his White House staff to call up one of Disney’s top executives in Washington, D.C., to complain and demand action. In at least two separate phone calls that occurred around the time Trump was finishing his first year in office, the White House conveyed the severity of his fury with Kimmel to Disney.”

“Trump felt that Kimmel had, in the characterization of one former senior administration official, been ‘very dishonest and doing things that [Trump] would have once sued over,'” the report goes on to reveal.
According to the publication, Disney executives were confused by the fact “that the White House kept telling them Trump wanted Kimmel to tone down his anti-Trump humor.”
One former inside Trump White House source told Rolling Stone “At least one call was made to Disney [that I know of]. “I do not know to who[m], but it happened. Nobody thought it was going to change anything but DJT was focused on it so we had to do something…It was doing something, mostly, to say to [Trump], ‘Hey, we did this.'”
The funniest of all points here is, of course, the fact that Jimmy Kimmel is still on air to this day, going stronger than ever and cracking all the anti-Trump jokes his heart desires, while Donald Trump brutally and humiliatingly lost his re-election bid and things are looking less than promising for his 3rd consecutive run in 2024.
