Last week, a 20-year-old National Guard member named Sarah Beckstrom was shot and killed in Washington, and since then, neither President Donald Trump nor many of his allies has been shy about using the tragedy to make political hay. Some have gone so far as to accuse Democratic lawmakers who had told soldiers to disobey illegal orders of having “blood on their hands,” even though none of them had called for violence or said anything about the National Guard.

Then, on Friday, the president was asked about the murdered woman and was accused of insensitivity.

Per HuffPost, a journalist asked Trump if he planned to attend Beckstrom’s funeral.

His response? Trump said that he hadn’t “thought about it yet” but said it was “certainly something I could conceive of.”

He added that, “I love West Virginia,” before bragging about his winning electoral margin in that state.

“You know, I won West Virginia by one of the biggest margins of any president anywhere, and these are great people,” Trump said, “I love the people of West Virginia. I love the people of our country,” he added. “But I haven’t given it any thought — but it sounds like something I could do, yeah. It’s very raw.”

A lot of social media users had thoughts about Trump’s callous response.
