California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been relentlessly trolling Donald Trump on social media in recent weeks, largely by imitating Trump’s style.

Now, Newsom has broadened his sights and also mocked the president’s daughter-in-law, Fox News host Lara Trump.

“LARA TRUMP’S “SHOW” IS A TOTAL DISASTER. NO PERSONALITY, NO TALENT, VERY LOW ENERGY. SHE DESPERATELY NEEDS “COACHING” FROM CRAZY FATHER-IN-LAW!!! ALSO, WHY DID FOX LET MARK “NOBODY” LEVIN (I HAD TO GOOGLE HIM) TRASH ME????,” Newsom’s “Governor Newsom Press Office” X account wrote over the weekend, in a sharp parody of Trump’s all-caps, stream-of-consciousness social media cadence. He also borrowed the frequent Trump tic of seeming to live-tweet Fox News programming.

In a separate post, the Newsom Press Office account praised Fox News’ liberal co-host, Jessica Tarlov, over a video clip of Tarlov praising Newsom’s social media strategy on Fox’s The Five.

In a column on MSNBC’s website over the weekend,   praised Newsom’s recent social media tactics.

“On X in recent weeks, Newsom’s press office account has relentlessly mimicked Trump’s PR style by writing narcissistic, insult-laden posts, often in all capital letters and littered with needless parentheticals and strangely placed quotation marks,” Aleem writes.

“Newsom seems to be having fun. He’s reposting AI-generated memes of his face carved onto Mount Rushmore (“WHAT AN HONOR!”). He’s putting down his Republican opponents (“NOT EVEN HIS EYELINER LINES LOOK AS PRETTY AS CALIFORNIA ‘MAP’ LINES,” he said of Vice President JD Vance.) He spread a meme falsely claiming there were “worldwide calls” for him to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, skewering Trump’s obsession with securing one. And, as Trump commonly does on Truth Social, Newsom’s been ending some posts with ‘THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!”’
