A lot of American families have had bitter disagreements over Donald Trump, in the decade since he first entered politics. But none quite like the Conways.

George and Kellyanne Conway were both longtime Republican political operatives; he was best known as a lawyer and she was a pollster. Late in the 2016 campaign, Kellyanne — who had previously worked for Ted Cruz’s campaign and was critical of Trump — took over the campaign. After Trump won, Kellyanne took on a major staff position in the White House, staying for the majority of his first term. George, on the other hand, soon emerged as a vocal Trump critic and was one of the founders of the Lincoln Project.

The two Conways kept to those positions for the ensuing several years, with Trump occasionally taking social media shots at George, while their then-teenaged daughter Claudia emerged as an anti-Trump social media star during the 2020 campaign. In 2023, they announced their divorce. And while Kellyanne was not part of the 2024 campaign and is not expected to join the Trump White House, she now works as a Fox News contributor, and the two still hold their longtime positions when it comes to Trump.

Kellyanne gave a speech this month in which she continued to rip the “never-Trump” movement, while George made some comments this week that could be construed as shots at Trump die-hards like his former wife.

Per HuffPost, George Conway appeared last week on a live taping of the “Green Room” podcast, at the 92nd Street Y in New York, where he was interviewed by Jennifer Rubin, another longtime Republican-turned-Trump critic.  There, he made some comments directed at Trump supporters.

“Think about it,” Conway said at the event. “You’ve got a group of people on one side who — you could tell me tomorrow that he shot a bunch of people on Fifth Avenue, and it would not change my opinion of him, because I think he’s the lowest form of life on Earth.”

Then he appeared to take a direct shot at his ex-wife.

“And then there’s the other chunk of people who basically will not believe anything bad — or at least admit to it, like my ex-wife — anything bad about Donald Trump, and they won’t admit to it, they pretend not to believe it… They watch Fox News and Newsmax and pretend none of the bad stuff actually exists, and it’s all just a giant conspiracy involving half of America.”

The two also discussed how Disney and ABC recently agreed to settle a defamation suit that Trump had filed against George Stephanopoulos.

Rubin, later, joked that Trump could retaliate against them.
“Later on, I thought we would pass around a tip jar so we could collect money for our libel, you know, defense fund,” she said.
