GOP Congressman Publicly Calls To Defund Secret Service After Trump Attack: “Stop Giving These People Jobs”

This is all getting a bit strange.

In the wake of questions, speculations, theories, and concerns regarding the US Secret Service’s response to the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, one Republican House Rep. is now calling for the US government to pull funding from the Secret Service and other government agencies.

On Saturday, felony-convicted former President and now-official Republican 2024 presidential nominee Donald J. Trump was delivering remarks at his Butler, Pennsylvania rally, when several loud shots suddenly rang out through the crowd. In footage of the incident, Donald is seen quickly grabbing at his right ear with his right hand, just seconds before his Secret Service agents would tackle him to the ground so fast and hard, that his shoe quite literally flew off.

Within a few moments, Trump stood back up on stage, with blood splattered across the right side of his face. Secret Service agents continued to flank him, but bizarrely left the former president’s head and a large portion of his torso completely unprotected, as he began to fist pump and shout at the crowd.

As we’re all aware, the former president was ultimately left shaken, but largely unharmed, suffering over a very minor nick to the top part of his right ear from an AR-15 bullet that grazed past his head.

In addition to the shooter, now identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, 50-year-old rally attendee and former Buffalo fire chief Corey Compertore lost his life in the shooting. Two other Trump supporters in attendance at the rally are said to have been seriously wounded.

Compertore’s funeral took place yesterday evening and, following the service, Texas Republican House Rep. Chip Roy made an appearance on The Ingraham Angle, with host Laura Ingraham, to publicly lay the blame for the shooting and Compertore’s untimely death at the feet of the US Secret Service.

As she welcomed Rep. Roy to her show, Ingraham said, “I am so upset as an American, so angry as an American, as a friend of Donald Trump, just as someone mourning for the poor Comperatore family which buried their father and their brother and their husband tonight.”

Roy was visibly furious as he discussed what he believed were the blatant security failures that led to the former firefighter’s death and the shooting of a former US president.

“Yeah, Laura, I couldn’t agree with you more,” Chip fumed. “Right now the president of the United States – the former president, and hopefully soon-to-be present of the United States – is alive not because of what Secret Service did, but because he providentially turned his head. That’s the truth.”

Ultimately, the Republican House Rep. made a public call for defunding the Secret Service, if that’s what it takes:

The fact is the American people are sick of it. They are sick of Lloyd Austin still having a job after Afghanistan. Pete Buttigieg after derailments and boats hitting in bridges. Sick of the FBI and sick of the intel community – all of these people keep their jobs. And now the Secret Service endangers the former president and the sitting Republican nominee and they are acting like nothing happened. They didn’t even have a drone flying. The guy who did it flew a drone. It is absolutely unbelievable what we are seeing here.”

Ingraham added in agreement, “You can’t even make it up.”

Roy concluded his fuming rant, saying, “But here’s the deal, we have to stop funding it. We have to stop giving these people jobs. We have to hold them accountable. And to your point, I’m glad Mike Johnson said we need one task force. We need to funnel it through one organized effort in the House.”

Now a week removed from the violent attack, the US Secret Service has yet to hold a formal press conference to explain how 20-year-old Crooks was able to secure a clear line of sight and ultimately injure former President Trump.
