Donald Trump unleashed a bizarre tweet about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Sunday because obviously the former reality show star had nothing better to do following the news that over 2,400 Americans have died from the massive coronavirus pandemic. The president tweeted that the couple must pay for their own security if they move to the United States, and it appears that Trump got his information from the Daily Mail. British tabloids are a huge part of why Harry and Meghan left the U.K. with their son, though, for their unfair, invasive, and racist smear pieces.
“The U.S. will not pay for their security protection,” Trump tweeted. “They must pay.”
The dubious Daily Mail article appears to be based on claims from what’s described as a “royal source,” but Trump recently tweeted that articles about him from unnamed sources are fake news. At any rate, the article states that the couple will have to “plead” with the president for “special help” to cover the costs for protection.
Harry and Meghan responded to the incredible story, and seemingly to Trump’s attack, saying, in a statement to Chris Ship, royal correspondent for British television network ITV, that “privately funded security arrangements have been made” and that the couple has “no plans” to request assistance from the U.S.
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan has just told us that “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Unsurprisingly, the rumor was circulated by right-wing talking heads.
The American taxpayers should not be footing the bill for this under any circumstances whatsoever, particularly in this time of crisis. Our tax dollars need to be helping our healthcare workers and American families in need!

I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!

President Chaos needs to learn to focus amid the pandemic, instead of trying to offer ideas for a new soap opera. And we’re really sorry Harry and Meghan had to endure disgusting attacks from British tabloids only to be welcomed here with a fake news attack from our president.
