Democratic members of Congress have made moves to impeach three different cabinet secretaries in the Trump Administration. However, it seems highly unlikely that any of the efforts will succeed.
According to a report by Axios, the three secretaries are Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI), who earlier this year attempted to introduce an impeachment resolution directed at President Donald Trump, introduced impeachment articles directed at Hegseth, accusing the “Secretary of War” of “Murder and Conspiracy to Murder and Reckless and Unlawful Mishandling of Classified Information.” The former charge is related to the boat strikes in the Caribbean, and the latter is related to the Signalgate scandal and the release of classified information.
And Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), who is running for that state’s Senate seat, has filed articles of impeachment against Kennedy, alleging “abuse of authority and undermining of the public health.”

The impeachment efforts are unlikely to go anywhere, for a couple of reasons. One, the Republicans still control the House and would be unlikely to bring them forward for a vote. Secondly, the efforts do not have the support of the Democratic leadership in the House, and therefore referred to as “rogue” efforts. This has also happened earlier this year, when Thanedar and Rep. Al Green (D-TX) filed their own articles of impeachment against Trump.
“Democrats can’t impeach Trump Cabinet officials on their own. They would need Republican votes to force the articles to the floor for a vote,” Axios wrote about the efforts. “If the House did end up voting on impeachment, Republicans would need to break from party lines for the articles to ultimately be sent to the Senate for trial. Since Republicans control the House and the White House, they’d also have to break from President Trump to impeach one of his cabinet officials.”
