She really thought that was going to work.

Controversial Colorado Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has apparently had yet another run-in with the law.

New body cam footage from a Colorado State Patrol officer has been released and is rapidly spreading like wildfire across social media, in which Boebert can be seen desperately trying to talk her way out of what was a rather hefty speeding ticket, going so far as to attempt to blame her lead foot on the car itself.

The Colorado congresswoman was reportedly nabbed by a law enforcement patrol officer on May 12th, Mother’s Day, of all days, cruising at a cool 85 miles per hour in a 65-per-hour zone, through a snowy Colorado landscape.

In the footage, obtained and released by Fox31 Denver, we see the officer approach Boebert’s car, as she’s already rattling off her excuses before she even has the window fully rolled down.

“I was messing with my gears and I know I ended up going, like, way too fast,” Lauren said, attempting to plead her case with the officer, prompting him to quickly reply, “Okay. Yea. Because you hit 90 [MPH] for a second, but you were on the brakes pretty quick.”

Fox31 further reports that Boebert later told the officer that she was “having issues with her transmission, which is why she didn’t realize she was speeding.”

The congresswoman was ultimately ticketed for her heavy lead foot (or faulty transmission, depending on what you choose to believe) and was later reportedly dinged even further for failing to pay her fine on time — something she did eventually rectify.

Of course, this is far from Lauren Boebert’s first brush with the law, nor the first time she’s tried to weasel her way out of trouble with a bucket full of excuses.

Back in 2023, a friend of Boebert’s son, Tyler, accused the congresswoman of intentionally covering up an automobile accident, in which Tyler Boebert was at the wheel, and his friend, then-19-year-old Noble D’Amato, with a hand injury.

Local publication Westword reported at the time:

Boebert’s son was issued a careless driving ticket, which was later reduced to ‘defective vehicle for headlights,’ the Garfield County Court Clerk’s Office told Westword. Tyler was ordered to attend an ‘Alive at 25’ driver’s awareness program. Westword said Boebert’s office issued an April 4 statement in which it said, ‘The injury reported was superficial at best and was addressed by medical professionals out of caution.”
