This week, the former Secretary of State made it clear how she feels about Donald Trump’s latest move. He sent thousands of National Guard troops into Los Angeles, and according to her, it has nothing to do with protecting people.
The protests in Los Angeles began after Trump’s administration carried out harsh immigration raids. Families were torn apart. Homes were raided in the middle of the night. Videos quickly spread across social media, and within hours, people flooded the streets in anger and fear.
Trump’s answer was to send in the military.
However, Governor Gavin Newsom never requested that. His office confirmed that the state did not request National Guard support. The decision was made entirely by the White House. That choice broke a six-decade tradition where presidents wait for states to call for help before deploying federal troops.

Clinton responded with strong words on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “It’s the first time in 60 years a president has made that choice,” she wrote. The history behind that statement carries weight. It is rare and intentional.
She then explained what she believes is the real motive. “Trump’s goal isn’t to keep Californians safe,” she said. “His goal is to cause chaos because chaos is good for Trump.”
California Governor Newsom didn’t request the National Guard be deployed to his state following peaceful demonstrations.
Trump sent them anyway. It’s the first time in 60 years a president has made that choice.

His goal is to…

It is a pattern that has followed him for years. He creates tension, then steps in like he is the only one who can fix it. That helped him win in 2016. Now, in his second term as president, he is repeating the same actions.
Sending troops into California, a state that has constantly challenged him, adds a political layer to all of this. Trump has never tried to hide his dislike for California’s leaders or its progressive values. He has gone after its clean energy policies, its sanctuary laws, and even its wildfires. His decision to send in troops during a time of protest fits the same playbook.
What makes this even more troubling is how Trump continues to blur the line between public service and personal benefit.
Just a few weeks ago, Clinton called out his connection to a luxury plane gifted by the royal family of Qatar. The jet, reportedly worth around $400 million, is expected to be used for Trump’s post-presidency projects. “No one gives someone a $400 million dollar jet for free without expecting anything in return,” she said.
That statement hits at something deeper. Trump’s actions, whether involving foreign gifts or domestic force, often serve his own interests first. The pattern is not subtle.
