A man who proclaims himself as a “Lincoln Republican” took the opportunity this week to absolutely shred felony-convicted former President and 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, as well as his equally problematic family, making it crystal clear that he will not be casting his vote in favor of an “adulterer, felon, and fraudster” who doesn’t understand even the most basic concepts of economics.
The brutal lashing came during today’s segment of C-SPAN’s Washington Journal when Maryland caller Derrick openly explained why he, as a self-described Republican, will not be voting for Donald J. Trump in November.
“I am excited about what’s happening in the Democratic Party, although I am a Lincoln Republican who has gone over because I am not going back to a convicted felon,” Derrick told C-SPAN this morning. “I’m not going back to an adulterer.”
“I’m not going back to a fraudster,” the caller continued. “I’m not going back to someone who claims to understand economics and had so many bankruptcies. I’m not going back to a number of empty, promised Republicans.”

Derrick said that he is choosing to move forward, and he hopes that other Americans will do the same.
“And I’m so challenged by every time a Republican gets on this line, all they can do is talk about the worst, the worst, the worst,” the caller said before adding, “If the country is so bad, why don’t you move out of the country?”
Derrick went on to admit to C-SPAN that he has voted for Donald Trump in past US presidential elections, but will never be doing so again, moving forward.
“It appeared to be breaking up the system,” the Maryland Republican explained. “But what it turns out to be was just one seeking out riches for he and his children. Folks don’t want to talk about his children and how many riches they gained from this.”
“And even the rioters at January 6th, we all forget about that. Lives were lost,” he goes on to add. “Property was damaged. Our sacred building was violated. I can’t forget that.”
Derrick explained that he would never forget the horrifying images of a Confederate flag being openly carried through the United States Capitol building on January 6th, 2021.
“You know, Republicans have short memories, very short memories,” he said. “I’m from a military family. That is not what military folks do. So I’m extremely disappointed in what I’ve seen.”
