Donald Trump mocked Taylor Swift for the reaction to her at the Super Bowl.

On Sunday night, Donald Trump became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, taking in the game as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in a game that was essentially over in the second quarter.

Trump was not the only major celebrity on hand for the big game at the Superdome in New Orleans. As has usually been the case the last two years, Taylor Swift also attended to cheer on her boyfriend, the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce. When shown on the scoreboard during the game, Swift was booed by most of the crowd.

Swift appeared to take the booing in stride. But Trump felt the need to rub it in on Truth Social.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving,” Trump said on Truth Social. Trump and Swift appeared to both be rooting for the Chiefs at the game.

Swift endorsed Kamala Harris, Trump’s opponent, in the 2024 presidential race, leading Trump to post “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.” However, it’s not entirely clear how much that had to do with the booing.

Ever since Swift started regularly attending NFL games, a particular cohort of football fans has expressed anger that there is so much focus on her as opposed to the game itself.

Some of that is also likely tied in with parochial fandom, as there were reportedly more Eagles fans in the crowd at the neutral-site game than those who were rooting for the Chiefs and, considering the historic association between Eagles fans and booing, many were likely jeering Swift for that reason. Swift, incidentally, is originally from Pennsylvania and, in her pre-Kelce life, had been photographed wearing Eagles gear. She even once mentioned an “Eagles t-shirt” in her lyrics and once clarified at a concert that “Eagles” referred to the team, not the band.

And of course, Trump’s claim is factually wrong: Swift was not “booed out of the stadium,” and appeared to remain at the Superdome for the entire game. Trump, however, left the game at halftime.

Attention will now turn to the question of whether Trump invites the Eagles to the White House and whether they accept. After they won the Super Bowl in 2018, the Eagles’ visit was canceled after many players refused to participate, although the team’s roster has almost entirely turned over in the intervening seven years.
