Last night, Trump took to the stage at his Mar-a-Lago resort turned post-White House home, flanked by and centered in a disturbing amount of United States flags (30 of them, to be exact) and formally announced to the world that he is running for the office of the United States presidency for the 3rd consecutive time, only one of which he has actually won thus far.
It was an announcement that we all knew would inevitably come some day and multiple reports in the last few weeks have indicated that Trump would drop the news on the heels of the midterm elections that he anticipated would be a “Red Wave” of success, though it certainly didn’t shake out that way for the Republican Party as a whole and namely many of Donald’s hand-picked candidates who lost their races.
But Trump was not deterred.
However, his speech was a bit… Bizzare, and certainly not exactly what most people were expecting.
In the aftermath of Trump’s announcement, multiple former insiders and experts have spoken out with their analysis of the former president’s big speech, which was pretty clearly read from the teleprompter that he claims to hate so much and never use — and while these analyses are certainly telling, they’re not shaping up to be a good look for the former guy.

Former Trump Administration Press Secretary turned staunch critic, Stephanie Grisham, was one of the first to take to social media and offer up her analysis of the ex-president’s big speech.
“Trump is staying on script here,” Grisham wrote in real-time, “but I can tell it’s a struggle and he’s dying to ‘be Trump.'”

“I think even Trump is bored with this speech,” Grisham added in a separate tweet. “Painful to watch.”

Former deputy White House press secretary Sarah Matthews also weighed in and echoed a similar sentiment, “This is one of the most low-energy, uninspiring speeches I’ve ever heard from Trump. Even the crowd seems bored. Not exactly what you want when announcing a presidential run.”

The Atlantic’s John Hendrickson said, “Trump seems bored,” while Vanity Fair’s Molly Jong-Fast similarly said, “even Trump seems bored by this.”
Trump’s former White House director of strategic communications, Alyssa Farah Griffin, made note of the fact that Republicans didn’t even want the former president to make this announcement, writing, “The announcement no credible Republicans asked for or wanted. Trump is back – and he could very well be President again.”
Griffin went on to add, “Donald Trump is wholly unfit for office and a clear and present danger to democracy. Republicans, please take him on.”
The speech was dry enough that even the country’s biggest networks either didn’t carry it or didn’t broadcast the whole thing. CNN cut out of the announcement speech about 20 minutes in, Fox waited until the 35-minute mark, while MSNBC didn’t carry it at all.
