Donald Trump has often claimed to be the responsible figure, telling his children to stay away from drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes. In fact, he said in October, “I always used to tell my kids: no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes.” On the surface, this sounds like good advice for any parent. But when you look at what’s really going on in the Trump family, his words don’t line up with their actions.
One of the most glaring contradictions came when Trump’s son, Don Jr., was caught on camera apparently rubbing cocaine on his gums while standing next to his father. This happened in front of TV cameras, which is strange, because if anyone else did something like this, the media would be all over it. But for the Trump family, it seems like the rules don’t apply to them.

Many people have pointed out the double standard when it comes to how the media treats the Trump family compared to others. Twitter user @Dog_House_Show pointed out, “He doesn’t care that there are cameras there because the media will just ignore this. If that was Hunter Biden, it would be 24/7 news coverage.”

It’s true that the media often goes into overdrive when it comes to anyone with the last name Biden, but when the Trump family breaks the rules, there’s almost no reaction. This sends a troubling message: the powerful are above the law.
Trump’s claims about his children’s behavior don’t match the reality. Don Jr., in particular, has shown troubling behavior in the past. One Twitter user, @nilver_paiva, said, “If it is not because of his father’s hefty allowances, Junior would be a homeless crack addict.”

Without his father’s wealth and connections, it’s likely that Don Jr. would have faced much harder consequences for his actions.
But let’s not forget that this is the same family that repeatedly tells us to “follow the rules” and “work hard.” Trump himself has been known to break rules and skirt consequences throughout his life. From dodging taxes to refusing to disclose his finances, his behavior shows a clear pattern of privilege and hypocrisy.
This situation is a perfect example of the hypocrisy within the Republican Party. They claim to be the party of family values, personal responsibility, and moral integrity. But when one of their own gets caught doing something wrong, they either ignore it or make excuses. Trump’s statement about teaching his kids not to do drugs is just another example of how he likes to pretend he’s the model of virtue, while his own family does the opposite.
As Twitter user @Murph0matic put it: “They’re above the law. That’s the message they’re spreading.”

The Trumps, and by extension many in the GOP, have made it clear that they operate by a different set of rules. Their actions send a dangerous message: if you’re wealthy or connected enough, the rules don’t apply to you
The American people deserve better. We deserve leaders who practice what they preach, who live by the values they try to impose on others. Trump’s family and the Republican Party need to be held accountable for their actions. We can no longer let them get away with double standards or hypocrisy. It’s time for change.
