About two weeks ago Hurricane Ian made landfall in the state of Florida, where it wreaked absolute havoc across the state, leaving a path of catastrophe, tragedy, loss, and death in its wake.
As it stands, the death toll from Hurricane Ian comes in at 102 human beings and counting. Local Herald-Tribune reports:
As Hurricane Ian’s death toll continues to climb in Florida, 11 families in Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties are grieving the loss of a loved one.
The Florida Medical Examiners Commission released the updated official death toll Monday evening, attributing 102 deaths to the storm. Of those, three were in Manatee County, one in DeSoto County, and seven in Sarasota County.
The 12th District Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed 11 storm-related records. Six bear the names of those who died along with a short description of what happened. Others only include some details, with the names withheld until the next of kin can be notified.
The one-page forms reveal some of the last moments of those who died, while a couple of online obituaries offer glimpses of the lives they lived.”
The devastation is real and palpable and only continues to grow with each passing day, as Floridians mourn and grieve their loved ones, their homes, and their lives as they knew them.
All while Ivanka Trump seems to be living up her photo-ops…
Recently, the former first daughter took to her Instagram and shared a pompous, self-glorifying photo of herself serving food to victims of Hurricane Ian. In the caption of the photo, she wrote:
Devastating to see the heartbreaking destruction Hurricane Ian left behind. 💔
Homes, businesses, and the lives of so many families were completely uprooted.
So grateful to have joined CityServe, Mercy Chefs, and local churches in Fort Myers and Naples to assist with their disaster relief efforts. We delivered emergency food, water, and supplies to families and first responders.
In the face of unimaginable desolation, it was beautiful to see local communities and organizations come together during such a difficult time.”

The pompous photo quickly made its way to Twitter, where Americans were, as you can imagine, less than impressed with Ivanka’s apparent PR stunt:

When I serve food to the homeless in my city we don’t tuck our sunglasses into our tops, we wear a hair net (health regulations), disposable gloves, sensible shoes and we look the people in the eye, chat with them, and eat with them. She looks like she’s there for a 5 min phto op

If she were even remotely a halfway decent human being in any conceivable way, perhaps people wouldn’t react to her “volunteer hours” in such a way. But she’s not — so here we are.
