It seems that all of Ivankaโs attempts to distance herself from her father following his embarrassing departure from the White House may all be for nothing as MSNBCโs Rachel Maddow covers a bombshell report from The Washington Post, revealing that Donaldโs precious daughter may now be in hot water she canโt get out of thanks to a scheme her daddy allegedly pulled involving her apartment.
WaPo reported that New York Attorney General Letitia James has officially subpoenaed records in relation to Trumpโs Washington DC hotel from the federal government with the allegation that the now ex-president inflated the value of his daughterโs apartment for the purpose of obtaining a lease for the Trump International Hotel.
โLetitia Jamesโ investigation is reportedly looking into whether Trump got the lease on that property through fraud โ whether the Trump Organization lied about his assets in order to obtain the lease for the property and the loans they used to pay for it,โ Maddow reports on the bombshell news.
โWe know from documents that were filed by Attorney General James last month that it was Trumpโs adult daughter, Ivanka Trump, who โ according to the attorney general โ negotiated the lease for that hotel with the federal government and negotiated a loan from Deutsche Bank to pay for it,โ the MSNBC host went on to add. โTish James is arguing that the means by which the Trump Organization described their own financial condition in order to get the lease and the loan were both fraudulent. Hereโs one example.โ

Maddow then went on to explain that the Trump Organization submitted a statement of assets in an effort to secure the lease and loan for the DC hotel. In that statement, they included a list of apartments the company owned and their values, which included the NYC Park Avenue pad that Donaldโs eldest daughter Ivanka was renting from her fatherโs company at the time.
โUnder her rental agreement, she apparently had the option to buy that apartment if she wanted to, for the cost of $8.5 million,โ Maddow stated. โBut in the forms that were submitted to get the loans for the DC hotel, that very same apartment was listed as being worth more than $20 million. Then a few years later, they listed it as being worth $25 million โ even though they knew there was an option to buy it for just $8.5 million.โ
โAttorney General James is looking into exactly that type of potentially illegally inflation of the Trump family and Trump Organizationโs financial situation for a whole bunch of Trump properties,โ the MSNBC host explained. โThanks to the Washington Post, we now know that the attorney generalโs investigation has subpoenaed the federal government about Trumpโs deal for that property in DC as well.โ
โSo yeah, if I were the former president, I donโt know if Iโd be calling for my supporters to riot if I were indicted in this investigation, but I might be concerned.โ
To say she hit the nail on the head would be an understatement.
