The internet doesn’t miss

Ivanka Trump’s latest attempt to rebrand herself as a wholesome businesswoman didn’t go quite as planned.

The first daughter posted on Instagram this week about her new venture, Planet Harvest, a company she co-founded that sells imperfect fruits and vegetables to reduce food waste. The brand calls itself a “profit for purpose” business, meaning it claims to do good while making money.

Ivanka proudly shared that Planet Harvest had donated 5,000 “Farmacy” food boxes to families in Northwest Arkansas after she attended the Think Health Summit in Bentonville.

“If food drives disease, food must be part of the cure, and if food is medicine, farmers are healthcare providers!” she wrote, adding a sunny photo of herself standing beside the company’s neatly packed boxes.

It was meant to look inspiring. But online, it landed like a lead balloon.

Within hours, her comments filled up with angry responses accusing her of being out of touch. Critics pointed out that her father’s ongoing government shutdown, now dragging into its 37th day, has left millions of Americans struggling, especially those relying on SNAP benefits for food.

“Quite tone deaf as so many Americans are fearing not knowing where their next wholesome meal is coming from. Please consider picking up THAT banner,” one user wrote.

Another added, “I guess your family’s logic is if food drives disease, then let’s make sure people can’t afford food. Problem solved. Shameful family!”

A third chimed in, “Really? You’re discussing food NOW?” while someone else replied, “Tone deaf is her signature character trait.

The timing was brutal. As Ivanka posted polished photos about feeding families, reports showed millions of low-income Americans facing uncertainty about food assistance. SNAP funding is expected to run dry if the shutdown continues, leaving many wondering how they’ll put anything on the table, misshapen or not.

Unfortunately, this isn’t her first stumble when trying to show her “compassionate side.” She’s often tried to separate her image from her father’s controversies, stepping into social causes , women’s empowerment, education, now food waste only to face online ridicule when reality undercuts the message.
