Considering how her father, Donald Trump, treated her during his final days in office at the end of 2020, it’s no wonder that Ivanka Trump is refusing to set foot in that world again. She made this eminently clear, bluntly stating, “I hate politics.”
She was among his top advisers during his first administration, and ultimately, he did something despicable. Something that a decent father wouldn’t do to his daughter, throwing her under the bus along with former Attorney General Bill Barr.
In a fiery retort on his Truth Social platform, Trump raged:
“Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results,” all because she backed Barr’s assessment that there was no amount of fraud sufficient enough to keep him in the White House, ABC News reports.
That’s a rotten thing to do, but Trump has shown us his true colors, and he’s rotten to his very core.

In an appearance on Skinny Confidential’s Him & Her Show podcast on Tuesday, President-Elect Trump’s eldest daughter said she’s staying out of politics this time around, according to the New York Post.
“I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable,” Ivanka, 43, said, stating it is a “very dark, negative business.”
“There is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine,” she explained.
“To some degree, I’m at the center of the storm because my father is about to be president, but it’s a very dark, negative business. And some people love the gladiator aspect of it — the fight. That was never me.”
Who can blame her?
She and her husband, Jared Kushner, pulled up stakes with their three kids and moved to Florida after her father’s election loss. She’s said she still intends to “show up” for dear old dad as he returns to the White House next week.
“I think I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter and be there for him to take his mind off things, to watch a movie with him, or watch a sports game,” she added.
“To know that he can be with me, and be himself and just relax and for me to be able to provide that for him in a very loving way as his daughter.”
“It’s the world’s loneliest position — the enormity of the decisions you’re making on a daily basis, how transactional everyone is with you,” she noted.
I have to wonder if she understands that her father is a scumbag. Maybe it’s nice that she’s doing this for her father, but does this also make her a scumbag by association?
She also said she “did love the impact” of her time in the White House but decided not to return because she now plans to make her family a priority.
“The main reason I am not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear,” she said. “My primary goals were just to like, be the best freaking mom,” the former first daughter said elsewhere in the interview. “It’s hard. I mean, I did the best I could — and I think I was there for all the really critical moments — but you don’t want to miss the small ones either.”
“Every time I had to miss something, I’m like, ‘I will never let this happen again in the minute I leave the White House’.”
She was also asked if she’s received criticism for deciding not to rejoin her dad’s nascent administration, but that hasn’t bothered her.
“It really feels like it’s very easy to make a decision when it aligns around your core values. And my highest, most core value is family.”
Lara Trump, Ivanka’s sister-in-law, also spoke about Ivanka’s planned absence during her father’s second term, telling The Post that the first White House stint was challenging for such a young family.
“Jared and Ivanka obviously were very, very much involved during the first term and it was really tough on them,” Lara, wife of Eric Trump, noted. “You know, every time we saw them, that was the constant — it was tough on them. It was tough on their family.”
“I think they actually did some really incredible things, things for which they may never get credit, but they definitely deserve some.”
I wonder, does that include Jared’s multi-billion-dollar payout from the Saudi Prince who is allegedly responsible for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi? Or Ivanka’s continual use of personal emails to conduct government business? The same thing Hillary Clinton was raked over the coals for? Which seems like risky business?
I’m just saying that while I don’t blame Ivanka for staying out of politics, I’m also saying she’s not as pure as the driven snow. We tend to lionize some political figures when they leave office, and sometimes that’s warranted. But sometimes not.
Ivanka also touched on how her experience in the White House turned into a “very emotional time.”
“You become a little bit calloused,” she said. Is that what happened to Jared, and why he could truck with a Saudi Prince who’s responsible for the death of a respected journalist?
Ivanka also credited her time in the White House as a time of “extraordinary personal growth for me and learning.”
“In retrospect I was able to break free of a bubble that I didn’t even know that I was in of the sort of Upper East Side of New York,” she told the podcast. “I went through years of craziness, and I’ve never become cynical about I think the fundamental goodness of people,” Ivanka added.
“Hopefully I’ll live a life that continues to be impactful, regardless of where I do it.”
I think most of us hope that but I can’t help but believe she breathes a sigh of relief each day now that she’s no longer working for her vile father.
But hey, that’s just me.
