Ivanka Trump was on CNBC on September 12 to promote her company, Planet Harvest. But viewers were far less interested in her business pitch and more focused on her hair.
It all began with a post online, where one viewer pointed out that Ivanka’s hair looked “a little off.” From there, the speculation took off. One person wrote: “It looks like a bad wig.” Another added: “It looks unnatural.”

Some people even questioned if it was really her. “Are we sure that’s Ivanka?” one commenter asked. Another chimed in, “I don’t recognize her. She looks different.”

Several noted how Ivanka’s perfectly styled blonde curls made her resemble her stepmother Melania Trump. “It’s so weird how she decided to style herself like Melania now,” one user wrote.
Celebrity hair stylist Sarai Martinez told the Daily Mail she didn’t see a wig, but hair extensions. “It seems that Ivanka is wearing hair extensions… It’s very natural for women to seek out hair extensions to create a more fuller look overall,” she explained. Martinez said the extensions appeared to be more about “density and thickness” than length.
That theory gained traction since Ivanka was photographed with clip-in extensions at the Super Bowl earlier this year. Fans pointed out the extensions were not blended well, which raised eyebrows given her wealth.
But not everyone agreed with the extensions idea. Celebrity hair and makeup artist Maria Atibuga told OK! that Ivanka was likely wearing a lace closure wig. “Looking at her hair, it looks like she’s wearing a 20-to-22-inch, lace closure wig that’s placed right behind the hairline,” Atibuga said. She explained the texture difference in Ivanka’s bangs compared to the rest of her hair made her think it was a wig.
Atibuga said wigs like this are common in Hollywood and often used to protect natural hair from damage caused by constant coloring and styling. She also gave Ivanka’s glam team credit, saying most people would assume it was her real hair.
