Bad timing for Vance!

Vice President J.D. Vance thought he could enjoy a quiet family ski vacation in Vermont. But things did not go as planned. Instead of peace and relaxation, he was met by hundreds of angry protesters. In the end, he and his family had to leave the ski resort and move to an undisclosed location.

The protests happened because of what took place the day before at the White House. Vance and former President Donald Trump had a tense meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting did not go well. Trump accused Zelenskyy of being “disrespectful” and warned that Ukraine was “gambling with World War III.” Vance also questioned whether Ukraine was grateful for U.S. support. The meeting ended with no agreement, and Zelenskyy left empty-handed.

Many Americans were upset by this. They felt that the U.S. should stand firmly with Ukraine. The way Trump and Vance treated Zelenskyy made people even angrier. As a result, they decided to show their frustration by protesting Vance’s vacation in Vermont.

When Vance arrived at Sugarbush Ski Resort in Waitsfield, Vermont, he was not welcomed with warm smiles. Instead, about 500 protesters were waiting for him. They held signs and chanted slogans in support of Ukraine. Some people even shouted, “Go ski in Russia!” to show their anger.

Judy Daiy from Indivisible Mad River Valley explained why so many people came out:

“This is a group of people who have always been supportive of standing with Ukraine.  However, I think yesterday’s performance at the White House has probably galvanized even more people to come out today.”

Another protester, Cori Giroux, added:

“After what he did yesterday, he crossed the line. After the meeting yesterday with Zelensky, there, I mean, I feel like all of America should be out here protesting.”

The protest grew bigger, and tensions rose. Vance and his family realized they could not stay. According to Fox News, more protesters gathered outside the resort. Eventually, the situation became too much, and Vance was forced to leave for an undisclosed location.

The protest in Vermont shows that many Americans do not agree with how Trump and Vance are handling foreign policy. People are paying attention, and they are not afraid to speak out when they feel something is wrong. This protest could be the start of something bigger. If Trump and Vance continue making decisions that upset people, more protests may happen across the country. Americans want their leaders to support strong alliances and make wise choices.
