Last week, after joking earlier about wanting to become the new pope, Donald Trump posted an AI-generated picture of himself dressed as the pope on social media. This was controversial, with some Catholic bishops attacking Trump for doing so, while the president’s fans were more appreciative of the post’s humor. Meanwhile, Trump, in an interview Tuesday, denied that he had anything to do with posting the pope image, which was posted under his own social media accounts and those of the White House.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) had another reaction, which was delivered in a speech on the House floor on Monday.

“Instead of the president cosplaying as the pope, he may want to cosplay as an actual president of these United States,” Crockett began her speech.

“That means he may have to do a little bit of research and decide that he needs to understand that he swore an oath to defend and protect the Constitution. That was the oath that he was supposedly taking on January 20th.”

Earlier this week, in his Meet the Press interview, Trump ripped Crockett as “low IQ” when asked to name a Democrat who could emerge as leader of the party.

“I can’t name one Democrat,” the president. “I mean, I look at the Democrats, they’re in total disarray. They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day. She’s definitely a low IQ person. And they said she’s the future of the party. I said, ‘you have to be kidding.’”

Crockett isn’t a “new person,” as she has been in Congress since 2023.

Trump also took a shot in the same interview at Bernie Sanders.

“I know people that are unbelievably sharp, and they’re older than 87,” the president said. “I watch Bernie Sanders. He’s a nutjob, but he’s still sharp. He’s the same guy he was. He hasn’t gone down. But Biden is really… he’s the worst thing to happen to old people.”

Sanders is 83.

“I don’t know what they’re going to do,” Trump told Meet the Press. “And I really believe in a two-party system. I because it’s good to be challenged. It’s really good to have two parties, you know, it’s good. Being challenged is okay. It keeps you sharp. I don’t know what they’re going to do.”
