He rambled a lot.

J.D. Vance was caught in the crossfire after Donald Trump publicly distanced himself from his VP candidate during Tuesdayā€™s debate. When asked about his stance on a national abortion ban, Trump threw Vance under the bus, claiming they hadnā€™t discussed the issue, even though Vance had previously stated Trump would veto such a ban.

Lindsey Davis asked Trump:

“…your running mate JD Vance has said that you would veto if it did come to your desk.”

Trump’s response:

“Well, I didn’t discuss it with JD In all fairness. JD — And I don’t mind if he has a certain view but I think he was speaking for me but I really didn’t. Look, we don’t have to discuss it.”

Trump dodging during the debate was classic deflection 101. Instead of addressing a controversial national abortion ban head-on, he threw J.D. Vance under the bus like an expendable extra. By shrugging off Vanceā€™s previous comments, Trump managed to play it safe, keeping his options open while letting his VP pick take the heat. Itā€™s the ultimate Trump move: avoid alienating anyone, take zero responsibility, and somehow shift the blame to someone else.

J.D. Vance went into full damage control mode after Trump threw him under the bus during the debate. He tried to spin it like Trumpā€™s been crystal clear all along about not supporting a national abortion ban, while calling the whole debate question ā€œabsurd.ā€

Instead of owning up to the confusion, Vance rambled about how the media is just distracting us allā€”oh, and threw in some random attacks on Kamala Harris for good measure. Because, why not? When in doubt, blame the media and Harris, apparently. But in the end, Vance remains loyal, doing whatever it takes to stay in Trumpā€™s good graces.
