Since JD Vance was announced as Donald Trump’s vice-presidential running mate for the 2024 election, the Ohio senator’s peculiar behavior has only fueled concerns about his readiness for such a high-stakes role. Known for his past flip-flopping on political issues and controversial stances, Vance’s bizarre public comments and actions have kept him in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Most recently, a video of Vance at home went viral, where he attempted to share his political priorities but was interrupted by his dogs howling at ambulances passing by. Instead of smoothly recovering, Vance turned the moment into an awkward display, calling his pets “idiotic” for their howling. The attempt at humor fell flat, leaving many wondering about his ability to maintain composure in more serious settings. The clip, which was meant to showcase Vance as a relatable politician, instead highlighted his increasingly strange public persona.

Raw Story got this sweet nugget from a couple weeks back HERE:

The Republican vice presidential candidate has been trying to run away from the “weird” descriptor that’s seemingly stuck to him since his Democratic rival Tim Walz applied it last month, but taking his German shepherd Atlas to a campaign stop in the city where he officially joined Donald Trump’s GOP ticket doesn’t seem to have worked as well as he might have hoped.

“This is ridiculous,” said former Trump campaign adviser A.J. Delgado, who is now an outspoken critic. “‘Let’s try to make him seem normal.’ Taking a dog on a plane all the way to Milwaukee is not kind to the dog. Moreover, he never once campaigned with his dog when he ran for Senate. This is using a dog for pandering. Try-hard and WEIRD.”

Since being chosen as Trump’s running mate, Vance hasn’t been able to avoid these odd moments and his reputation for erratic comments isn’t new. Even before he was named Trump’s VP, he had courted controversy with statements on marriage and women’s rights and ‘childless cat ladies.’ Such comments sparked outrage from women and others who raised questions about his judgment on sensitive social matters. Now, as a VP candidate, his words carry even greater weight, and his pattern of awkward, tone-deaf commentary seems to only be escalating.

Vance’s rise from author of Hillbilly Elegy to Trump’s chosen running mate has been riddled with contradictions. Once a critic of Trump, calling him “cultural heroin” during the 2016 election, Vance has done a complete reversal, now fully embracing the former president’s agenda and far-right politics. Critics have pointed to his political opportunism, with many suggesting that his sudden loyalty to Trump is more about personal ambition than any deeply held beliefs.

Meanwhile – here is Tim Walz with his dog.  See if you can “spot” the difference … hardy har har.

As the 2024 campaign intensifies, Vance’s pattern of unconventional and offbeat statements could become a growing concern for the ticket. His history of controversial remarks, including implying societal shifts like working mothers and women’s liberation contribute to broader issues, and his peculiar behavior since being named the VP pick, leave voters questioning whether he possesses the focus and gravity required for such a crucial role.

While the Trump-Vance ticket energizes the far-right base, Vance’s oddball persona is increasingly seen as a wild card that could alienate more moderate voters. With his every word now under the microscope, JD Vance’s public stumbles since becoming the VP candidate may turn into a critical issue as Election Day approaches.
