JD Vance’s Dinner Photo With Trump And Melania Backfires As Social Media Torches Him

So much for caring about workers

On Thursday evening, Trump and First Lady Melania traveled a short distance to the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory. Streets were cleared for the motorcade. Inside, the two couples shared a private meal lasting more than an hour. It was the first time Trump had left the White House since government funding lapsed.

Vance posted about it on X right after. He said he and his wife were “so grateful” to host the Trumps. He added, “It’s always a good time when you get to have the boss over for dinner.”

That line got people talking, with many different views.

Just a day before, Vance stood in the White House briefing room and blamed Democrats for the shutdown. He accused them of trying to force “billions of dollars for health care for illegal aliens.”

That claim was false. A law signed by Ronald Reagan back in 1986 made that kind of spending illegal.

The same day, Vance defended Trump’s use of a racist AI video mocking House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The video showed Jeffries in a sombrero and fake mustache. Vance said it was “funny.” He promised to stop the “sombrero memes” if Democrats gave Trump what he wanted. Federal workers may be missing paychecks, but for Vance this was a punchline.

Meanwhile, Trump is using the shutdown as a weapon. He threatened to fire thousands of federal workers and called some agencies “Democrat Agencies.” He wants to cut funding for projects in states that did not vote for him. That means punishing voters who dared to choose Democrats.
